What developmental milestones should I see in my four year old child?

The main goals for early childhood are to form an attachment with parents, learn self-regulation skills, develop communication and learning skills and learn how to relate to peers.

A caring and supportive environment will help a child to achieve these goals, but sometimes there can be obstacles. By four years of age a child should be able to interact well with adults and other children, be able to tell a simple story and understand the concept of friendship.

Parental concerns about delays in this area should always be taken seriously. The below video explores the developmental stages of a preschooler with Dr Adele Heyer from Townsville Paediatrics.
