Meet the story of the first Christmas this year with Stable at Riverway. Stable on the Strand has been a Townsville Christmas tradition for twenty years. This year, Stable moves to a new location at Riverway for free entertainment, kids activities, story telling and all the joy of Christmas to Townsville locals and visitors, bringing a truly heart warming experience for all the family.
Riverway is a fantastic venue to be able to enjoy this unique Townsville Christmas. With ease of access, lots of space and lots of extra parking, it’s the perfect place for a memorable family Christmas experience.
What is Stable at Riverway?
Stable at Riverway brings the story of the first Christmas to life.
Immerse yourself in the story of Christmas: you can sing with the angels, herd with the shepherds, follow the star with the wise men and meet Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus in the stable. Wander the groves, enjoy fantastic live entertainment, or just have a chat to a friendly Bethlehem local. The kids can pat the animals, dress up as a Roman centurian, be a shepherd, go fishing, get involved in craft activities and meet with the people of the first Christmas.
There will be oval sport, oval games and the skate park open nightly at the QYC youth Hub plus the QRcode adventurethon – not to be missed!!!! And at the Raintree grove you will find quiet spaces, soft music, the Townsville Catholic Education gratitude grove, the garden of Hope, Christmas blessings, storytelling and so much more.
Come once, or come every night, for an experience that makes everyone’s Christmas just that extra special.
How to get there?
Located in Thuringowa Central on magnificent Ross River frontage, Riverway is one of Townsville’s most exciting and accessible destinations. Riverway is accessible from Riverway Drive, by turning into Village Boulevard at the traffic lights (the intersection of Riverway Drive, High Range Drive and Village Boulevard).
Lots of car parking is available on site.
In addition to regular bus services, a special free bus service will run every evening of Stable at Riverway from Kelso and Upper Ross. Not only is the bus free, but there are bus stop sausage sizzles while you wait! Look out for the signage to know where to catch your bus to the event.
When is Stable at Riverway?
Stable at Riverway runs each evening, 6pm to 9.30pm, from Saturday 18 December to Wednesday 22 December 2022.
